The vineyard that the project is based on is located in orange, NSW, about 300km west of Sydney. The project vineyard has been managed by Jarretts Wines for over 15 years and is a small to medium vineyard, and incorporates organic farming principles. The vineyard manager sees precision viticulture as a critical element of sustainable vineyard management, and utilises technologies such as: GPS yield monitoring systems and yield mapping.

 

The vineyard has a total of 18 blocks, with a different variety of grapes, and there is an individual count of over 17800 vines. The tools used to assess the carbon footprint were a combination of: Land surveys, soil surveys, soil laboratory analysis, measurements of vines, GIS management The study of the vineyard incorporated two field trips to the vineyard
