Sustainability is arguable the most pressing issue facing today’s society.
To achieve Sustainability we must use our resources and ecosystems in a manner that satisfies current needs without
compromising the needs for our future generations. It has become evident that society
must lower its current consumptions and rethink the use of our limited resources.
This thesis aims to use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to map the consumptions of our resources and community attitudes within certain localities across New South Wales (NSW).
Furthermore, this thesis intends to demonstrate how GIS can be utilised to effectively
monitor and help contribute to the community’s journey towards sustainability within NSW.
The Concepts of Sustainbility
