    The program to determine line of sight was written using MATLAB Version 7 (Student Version). The program basically uses a matrix of points above the surface, and calculates the line between each row,column and point pair using trigonometrical relations. These lines represent line of sight between these pairs, a representaion of the concept is pictured left. The program reads the height of points along these lines at row or column intervals (depending on set criteria).

    The program then finds the height on the surface directly below each line point. If the height of the surface is higher than the line height, the 'satellite' signal is recorded as blocked. The status of visibility is recorded in another matrix the size of the original surface, 1 equals visible and 0 equals blocked.
