Teaching & Research Facilities

The Surveying and Geospatial Engineering (SAGE) Lab is a central space to support SAGE teaching and research. It consists of state-of-the-art instruments and up-to-date software packages for catching up the latest technology development in surveying and geospatial engineering.

The lab equipment includes:

  • Leica GNSS receivers
  • Leica, Nikon, Trimble, Sokkia and FOIF total stations
  • Trimble and Topcon digital levels
  • Leica terrestrial laser scanner and ZEB handheld SLAM laser scanner
  • Remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS)
  • RPAS aerial photogrammetry and lidar systems

The lab computing facilities include:

  • Desktop workstation computers and data servers
  • Close range photogrammetry devices (e.g. DSLR cameras, iSense3D scanner) and software e.g. Australis, iWitnessPro and Photomodeler
  • Photogrammetry software e.g. ERDAS, ENVI, Px4D, Correlator3D
  • GIS software e.g. ArcGIS
  • Lidar data processing and visulisation software e.g. Quick Terrain Modeler and LAStools
  • Surveying applications e.g. Leica Infinity, Cyclone, Magnet Office, AutoCAD Civil3D, Fixit4
