According to reports out of Russia, the country will continue the construction of the GLONASS navigation satellite network this year. The report claims that it will launch at least 5 satellites in 2021. The plan shows that Russia will launch two GLONASS-K satellites in the second to third quarters of this year. In addition, there will be another two GLONASS-K2 satellites in the third to fourth quarters. Eventually, at the end of the year, it will unveil the GLONASS-M series satellites.

Compared with the previous M model, the latest GLONASS-K2 model satellite has improved technical indicators and enhanced operating life. In addition to transmitting signals in the L1 and L2 frequency bands, GLONASS-K can also transmit “differential code” navigation signals in the L3 frequency band.
